“Slow Seascapes”, is a collection of images that are rooted in a deep connection to place and atmosphere. This body of work harnesses the natural light reflecting off ocean seascapes to seamlessly transport the viewer into a visual meditation.
For me the photographic process itself is a form of meditation. Before shooting, I study relationships — the sky, the sun, the ocean—and synchronizes her camera's movement to the rhythm of the tide. She intentionally composes each exposure to fuse ocean motion to a strict vertical alignment.
Inspired by 20th-century Color Field Movement painters like Mark Rothko, I frame light not just as illumination, but as a raw, transformative element. When light settles on the surface of the ocean, it often reveals hidden texture, juxtaposed color, and sometimes, unexpected emotion.
Each image balances realism with subtle, dreamlike qualities while using natural linear color gradients to evoke a distinct mood. This body of work celebrates a vast, vibrant color spectrum that exists only in the natural world, never constant and always shifting from moment to moment.
